From the May 20, 2008 Columbus Dispatch:
Columbus' Tommy O'Shaughnessy is stepping out of his role as publican to join TV chef Martin Yan in a business venture that aims to open 50 Yan Can quick-service Asian restaurants across the country and build four combination Irish-Asian restaurants in international destinations.
"If you combine my 25 years on Wall Street with Martin's 40 years in the kitchen, you have a winning combination," O'Shaughnessy said in announcing the creation of Lotus Shamrock Global.
Yan is chairman, and O'Shaughnessy is chief executive.
"I've been a restaurant consultant for many years," Yan said. "But I'm an artist, I'm not an operator. But if I can team up with somebody who is as passionate as I am, that creates a pretty good network of talent and I can support it."
O'Shaughnessy, who works in the securities industry as a stockbroker and serves as general partner for O'Shaughnessy's Public House restaurant, has begun the task of raising $30 million to finance construction of the restaurants.
The Yan Can restaurants, which will be operated or franchised by Yan's
Asian Culinary Concepts Inc., are seen as a step above Panda Express,
working strictly with fresh ingredients to provide customers a high-quality
meal at a moderate price.
A truly Irish meal requires a pint or two. Try our own label, O'Shaughnessy's Dam Good, or stick with the original: Guinness. Or both.
"Wonderful flavor"
